Building dark, minimalist soundscapes with elements of dubstep, 2-step and ambient electronica is UK producer Burial's specialty. First appearing on the music scene's radar in 2006 with the release of his eponymously titled debut album, Burial maintained his identity as secret, surrounding his music with an air of mystery. It wasn't until he was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the search for his identity became many journalists' obsession that the UK publication The Independent announced that it had discovered Burial to be William Bevan, a graduate of London's Elliott School and in the same class as noted producer Four Tet, who Bevan has collaborated with. Even once the mystery around his name had subsided, Burial continued to garner acclaim for his atmospheric and truly innovative pieces.
