San Francisco-based six-piece Maus Haus is one of the few Bay Area bands to sidestep easy categorization into the city's popular lo-fi scene. Instead the band members, who are involved in various side projects and production ventures, create quirky avant-pop that incorporates elements of electronic rock, vintage-sounding flute, saxophone flourishes and the lyrical references of an absurdist--all cohesively patched together like a collage. The band's originality and creativity alone is enough to set it apart, but the catchiness of its music and instrumental prowess of its members set it apart even further and mark Maus Haus as a band to see.
