Southern hip-hop artist Pimpin Pen has firmly established himself in the Austin, Texas rap scene in a short amount of time. After winning the "Artist of the Year" award at the city's Hip-Hop Awards show, he's continued to ride the local success of his 2009 album, I Am Kingpen. His style incorporates slow, deliberate beats of Southern hip-hop, with occasional influence from rock and roll and various electronic genres thrown in. Vocally, Pimpin Pen possesses a high-pitched, unique sounding flow and often raps alongside his frequent collaborator, K-Paul. Performing at the world-famous Austin festival,SXSW, in 2010 and 2011, he hopes to expand his fan-base beyond Texas' borders in the coming years.
