A musical adaptation of the 1992 film of the same name, Strictly Ballroom the Musical follows the life of Scott Hasting as he journeys from being a frustrated individual to an inspired dancer who finds love along the way. Created by one of the original writers of the film - Baz Luhrmann, the musical debuted at the Sydney Lyric Theater in 2014 to mixed reviews from critics. Following a reworking, it played at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, where it was better-received. It subsequently played in Leeds, UK and Toronto before making its West End debut at the Picadilly Theatre in 2018.
