Polaris, an Australian metalcore band from Sydney, was formed in 2012 by Daniel Furnari and Jake Steinhauser. The band's lineup expanded with Jamie Hails, Rick Schneider, and Ryan Siew, with Siew joining in 2013. They debuted with Dichotomy (2013) and gained recognition with The Guilt & The Grief (2016). Their first studio album, The Mortal Coil (2017), earned them an ARIA Award nomination. The Death of Me (2020) continued their success, also receiving a nomination. Tragically, lead guitarist Ryan Siew passed away in June 2023. Despite this loss, their third album, Fatalism (2023), debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. Known for their blend of metalcore with progressive and post-rock elements, Polaris's lyrics often explore themes of anxiety, depression, and loss.
