The Sway Machinery

Brooklyn band The Sway Machinery specializes in an unusually niche corner of the music world reviving the Jewish cantorial music tradition. Despite the group's focus on this musical tradition, the band often plays with resident Brooklyn musicians like that of the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, the bass saxophonist from the Arcade Fire and the guitarist from Balkan Beat Box. The group plays all kinds of musical styles from around the world in addition to the traditional Jewish music it performs, and has even traveled to Mali to jam with local musicians in that area.
