It is often claimed that today's generation - based in a world of instant entertainment and hi-speed Internet - is so overstimulated by the constant bombardment of images, advertisements and noise pollution that the average person's attention span isn't longer than a few seconds. It is becoming more and more difficult then, for musicians to capture and maintain the attention of the average listener. One way to face this issue is to go along with the overstimulation, rather than fight it, which is the approach employed by Eclectic Method. Known as innovators of the audio-visual mashup scene, Eclectic Method is a trio of London natives who joined forces in 2002. The DJs and producers splice countless samples of pop culture-related videos, television snippets and video game scenes with dance-friendly breakbeats.The result might be an over-bombardment of the senses, fitting well with modern media, but it has succeeded in keeping the attention of international audiences and of prominent artists like U2 and Fatboy Slim, who have requested remixes from the group.
